The Annapolis Ten Mile Run
The Annapolis Ten Mile Run is a 10-mile foot race organized by the Annapolis Striders, Inc., a 1400 member, all volunteer, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, established in 1978, in Annapolis Maryland that promotes physical fitness and mental well-being through distance running. The race is conducted according to the road racing guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America. For a history of this community race, please visit our race archive.
The race has been listed as one of the top ten 10-mile races in the country by Runner’s World Magazine. It is a beautiful run through historic Annapolis and over the Severn River.

Registration is now closed. Reminders: No race weekend entries. Numbers and Timing Bibs are non-transferable, except as indicated under transfer period, below. Unofficial runners or runners who unofficially transfer bibs will not be scored and are subject to disqualification from future Annapolis Ten Mile Runs.
ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE FINAL WITH NO REFUNDS, TRANSFERS (EXCEPT AS NOTED BELOW) OR DEFERRALS. A major portion of the race proceeds will benefit the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
In the event of a race cancellation, there will be no refund.
While registering you will also have the opportunity to make a donation to the Anne Arundel Medical Center and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.

After you have registered, you will receive periodic updates via e-mail on the race. Please be sure to provide your correct e-mail address when registering as that is the address that will be used to deliver runner instructions.

Join us Sat. August 24, 2013 from 10am till 5pm at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for the Race Eve Expo! In addition to packet pick-up, the Expo will feature custom Annapolis Striders Merchandise, and merchandise from National Running Center, local running stores, and other vendors, clothing sales, displays and more.
Saturday Bib Number Pick-Up
Anticipate early morning traffic and long pick-up lines on race day. Plan to get your number on Saturday, August 24, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the NAVY-MARINE CORPS MEMORIAL STADIUM. YOU MUST PRESENT A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID TO PICK UP YOUR PACKET. Pick-ups may be made for friends or family on Saturday only, but a note from the absent runner stating permission PLUS a copy of their government issued photo ID must be presented.
Sunday Bib Number Pick-Up
On Sunday, race day, packet pick-up starts at 5:30 a.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Arrive well before 6:15 a.m. Pick-up lines close at 6:45 a.m. DON'T BE LATE! Street closures around the stadium will start around 6:15/6:30 a.m. in preparation for the race. You must present your ID (or photocopy, so you don't have to worry about losing your ID. All photocopies will be returned to the person picking up the bib). Bibs will ONLY be given to the registered runner on race day. NO pickups for friends or family can be made on race day.
The Course (subject to modification)

- Start/Finish at Navy Marine Corps Stadium.
- The race starts in the west parking lot (opposite Rowe Blvd) of stadium; loop around stadium perimeter to Rowe Blvd, around Church Circle and down historic Main Street, past City Dock, turn left at Gate One of the Naval Academy and proceed up King George, cross Severn River on new bridge; Bear Right onto Rt 648, Turn Right onto Homewood Rd., Turn Left onto Homewood Rd., Turn Left onto Ferry Farms Rd., Turn Right onto Elmwood Rd., Turn Right onto Rt 648, Bear Left on Rt. 648, Course will proceed to approximately ½ mile from where Rt. 648 ends at Rt 50 and then reverses, Turn Right at Severn Ridge Rd. and proceed down the hill to Rt 450 going south; re-cross river and finish at stadium; Water every 2 miles. Paved surfaces.
- Portions of the course may be open to limited vehicular traffic. Please follow all course marshall and police instructions.
- In the event of an emergency where emergency medical vehicles must cross the course, runners will be briefly stopped to facilitate that vehicle's passage. Please be aware of the course marshals and police officers on the course and follow their instructions at all times.

All participants must maintain at least a 13.5-minute per mile pace and complete the race by 9:15. Participants unable to make the 8-mile cut-off time(approximately 8:48 am), will be advised they are no longer official participants and will be required to move to the sidewalk and obey all pedestrian traffic rules. Those individuals who continue despite missing the cut-off time will cease to be official participants, and will not receive an official finisher time's or finisher's premium.
Please do not register if you cannot complete ten miles in two hours and fifteen minutes (2:15) or less as road closures will reopen and aid stations will close based on this time constraint. This rule will be STRICTLY ENFORCED.
THE COURSE WILL OPEN TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AT 9:15 am. NO headphones. No wheels (roller blades, bikes, strollers, etc.). No dogs.
The race will be electronically timed with a timing chip (IPICO RFID system) on the back of your bib. Do not bend or fold your bib number. The bib does not have to be returned. Timing bibs must be worn as directed to be officially scored, and bib numbers must be worn on the torso, with the bib number visible.
All decisions of the race director are final.
BAG CHECK: There is no bag check. The parking area is immediately adjacent to the start/finish area. Please leave your non-running related belongings, including backpacks and bags, in your vehicle. After the race, you will have access to your vehicle to obtain dry clothing, etc…
SECURITY ISSUES: There will be no unattended backpacks or other bags permitted in the start/finish and expo areas, or around the Naval Academy stadium; this includes runner and spectator backpacks or bags. The City of Annapolis Police Department will confiscate any unattended backpack or bag. The City of Annapolis Police Department will also have drug and weapon sniffing canines; if a canine has positive smell on a backpack or bag, the race will be stopped while the bag is investigated. SO PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BACKPACK OR BAGS UNATTENDED. THIS APPLIES TO SPECTATORS AND RUNNERS. The Annapolis Striders support the effort of law enforcement to make this a safe event for everyone.
Notice: This is not a race you are likely to set a personal record. It is a tough race with a hilly course run in the heat and humidity of a Chesapeake August. Temperatures can be 80 degrees at the start, with high humidity. Please be sure you are properly trained.
Training for the Annapolis Ten Mile Run:
The Annapolis Striders put on a free (to members) nine (9) week training program targeting the Annapolis Ten Mile Run. This low-key program will guide the participants from a base of 6 miles up to a long run of 10 miles in 7 weeks. The goal will be for all who complete the program to be able to complete the Annapolis 10 Mile Run on August 25th 2013, which will start and finish at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. NOTE: In keeping with the A10’s tradition of awarding a Finisher’s Premium, NO premiums will be distributed at the packet pickup/Expo or will be given to any registrants who do not finish the race
Featuring Entertainment by the Dana B. Band, ice cream, bananas, bagels, beer, Gatorade. Sales of merchandize by the Annapolis Striders, National Running Center and other vendors.
Enjoy the music of the talented Dana B. Band led by Dana B on vocals and bass guitar along with Frank Young on drums, Bryan Ewald on guitars, Larry Lay on piano, and Dave Fairall on saxaphone.
All results will be posted immediately as they are available at the finish line and on the Annapolis Striders web site.
The A10 Awards Ceremony will be at approximately 10:00am in the West end of the stadium behind the Class of 53 Pavilion. There are no duplicate awards. In other words, if you win the Top masters award, you can't also win your age group. You'll get one or the other - not both, and race director decisions are final. Awards are not mailed.
OVERALL: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, Male & Female, based on gun time
MASTERS (Age 40 on race day and over) : 1st, 2nd Place, Male & Female, based on gun time
AGE GROUP: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, Male & Female, 19 and under, 20-24, etc., in 5 year increments at Race Directors discretion. Based on chip time.
PAT O'BRIEN MEMORIAL AWARD: To the top finishing Anne Arundel County Female, in honor of Pat O’Brien, a stalwart of the Annapolis Striders, and a gritty competitor and warm-hearted person who passed away in 1992. Based on gun time.
CDR WILLIE McCOOL AWARD: To the top finishing U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY Alumni. In honor of Commander Willie McCool - USNA Alumni, astronaut and A-10 veteran who died in the Columbia Space Shuttle accident. Based on gun time.
L. COL. BEN MOORE, USM (ret) AWARD: To the top finishing Anne Arundel County Male. In honor of Ben Moore, long time Annapolis Strider, who passed away in 2008. Ben trained many Striders to run their first marathon, and was active in volunteering at the A-10. Based on gun time.
There are no cash awards.
On race day: Rt 50 East or West to Exit 24-Rowe Blvd, follow signs and race officials to either Farragut Road or Taylor Avenue, enter stadium as directed by race and parking officials.
To make reservations at Annapolis area hotels, motels and B&Bs Contact the Annapolis and Anne Arundel Visitors Bureau online at www.visit-annapolis.org. The closest hotels to the start/finish area that are within walking distance are the The Westin Annapolis (about ¼ mile (410) 972-4300)) and O’Callaghan Annapolis (about ½ mile (410) 263-7700)), and Loews Annapolis Hotel (about ¾ mile (410) 263-7777)). There are also many bed and breakfasts in the downtown and harbor area, which is about 1 ¼ mile from the start/finish.
The City has a circulator bus that provides free transit from the harbor area on the West Street Corridor, terminating at the Westin Hotel. click here for details.
