The 2009 Annapolis Ten Mile Run is closed and the Bib Exchange period has ended. We hope to see you running at next year's A10. Registration opens online on June 1, 2010. We encourage you to volunteer this year to help make the A10 one of the top races and help cheer on the participants. 2009 Annapolis Ten Mile Run Transfer Policy (transfers possible from noon July 1 to August 1)

 

Runners who are registered for the A10 but unable to run may transfer their entry to another runner for a $10 fee from July 1 - August 1.  A message board http://community.active.com/community/sports/running/area_runners_and_clubs/a10_transfers  is available at Active.com to help coordination between those wanting to transfer their entries and those wanting to take over someone’s entry.

Participants registered for the Annapolis Ten Mile Run (A10) may transfer their registration to another person, either to someone you know or someone from the message board. Either way, follow the link above.

 

If you transfer your registration you do not receive a refund from the Annapolis Striders/Annapolis Ten Mile Run or Active.com.

 

You may recover your cost from the person buying your registration.

 

The new participant receiving your Bib number must pay a $10 transfer fee and fill out the Application form in order to complete the transaction. Once you have submitted your transfer request, it may not be cancelled.

 

 Please Note: There are no deferments for the A10. All transfers must be completed by August 1, 2009.


The Annapolis Run is a 10-mile foot race organized by the Annapolis Striders, Inc., a volunteer, non-profit organization. The race is conducted according to the road racing guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America. USATF certified.

PLACE - Start and Finish at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis, Maryland.

 

STARTING TIME/DATE:  7:45 a.m. SHARP! Sunday, August 30, 2009. All entrants should be at the stadium by 7:00 a.m.  

 

COURSE: The race starts in the west parking lot (opposite Rowe Blvd) of stadium; loop around stadium perimeter to Rowe Blvd, around Church Circle and down historic Main Street, past City Dock, turn left at Gate One of the Naval Academy and proceed up King George, cross Severn River on new bridge; shaded country roads, rolling hills to Ritchie Hwy; re-cross river; USATF Certification No.MD-96-009JS. Water every 2 miles. Paved surfaces.

RULESAll participants must maintain at least a 12 minute per mile pace. Participants unable to do so by the 8 mile mark will be advised they are no longer official participants and will be required to either board transportation or move to the sidewalk and obey all pedestrian traffic rules. Those individuals that continue will cease being official participants and will not receive an official finisher’s time or finisher’s premium. This rule will be STRICTLY ENFORCED. THE COURSE WILL OPEN TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC AT 10:00 am.  NO headphones. No wheels (roller blades, bikes, strollers, etc.). No dogs. ChampionChips must be worn on shoe to be officially scored.

 

ENTRY:  Submit a complete and fully executed entry form online and the correct fee by clicking “REGISTER HERE” above, starting June 1. Maximum Entrants: 5,500. Race will close when full (usually by mid-June) so register early. No race weekend entries. Numbers and Chips are non-transferable, except as indicated under Exchanges below. Unofficial runners will not be scored and are subject to disqualification from future events conducted by the Annapolis Striders. If you have your own ChampionChip include chip number on online registration form.

 

FINISHER'S PREMIUM: The 2009 Annapolis Ten Mile Run Finisher’s premium is a 1/2-zip Dri-Run mesh shirt is constructed of 3-Dimensional Dri-Run polyester mesh that wisks moisture away from your skin to keep you dry and comfortable from 40 degrees to 65 degrees, making it an excellent cool-weather training shirt. PLEASE make sure that you determine your correct size prior to registering on Active.com.

NOTE: In keeping with the A10’s tradition of awarding a Finisher’s Premium, NO premiums will be distributed at the packet pickup/Expo or will be given to any registrants who do not finish the race.

FEE
:  $55.00. (plus Active.com fee). No cash. No refunds. The principal portion of race proceeds will benefit the Anne Arundel Medical Center. In previous years, the A10 proceeds benefited AAMC’s new Cardiac Rehab Facility and the Oncology Center.

 

EXCHANGES: Exchanges will be permitted from July 1 to August 1 through Active.com. SEE 2009 A10 TRANSFER POLICY near the top of this page. There will be an exchange fee of $10.

AWARDS:  The Awards Ceremony will start at 10:00 a.m. North Seating, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Overall and Masters Division awards will be determined by GUN Time. Age Group awards will be determined by CHIP Time.

MASTERS: 1st, 2nd Place, Male & Female
AGE GROUP: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, Male & Female, 19 and under, 20-24, etc., in 5 year increments at Race Directors discretion.
 Pat O'Brien Memorial Award: To the top finishing Anne Arundel County Female
CDR WILLIE McCOOL AWARD: To the top finishing U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY Alumni. In honor of Commander Willie McCool - USNA Alumni, astronaut and A-10 veteran who died in the Columbia Shuttle accident.

NUMBER PICK-UP:  Anticipate early morning traffic and long pick-up lines race day. Plan to get your number on Saturday, August 29, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the NAVY-MARINE CORPS MEMORIAL STADIUM. Packet pick-up resumes race morning at 6 a.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Arrive well before 7 a.m. Pick-up lines close at 7:30 a.m. DON'T BE LATE! Pick-ups may be made for friends or family, but a note from the absent runner stating permission PLUS a copy of their photo ID must be brought to pick-up. YOU MUST PRESENT A PHOTO ID TO PICK UP YOUR PACKET.

 

RACE EVE EXPO:    On Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the NAVY-MARINE CORPS STADIUM. In addition to packet pick-up, the Expo will feature National Running Center clothing sales, displays, food, random drawings, and much more.

 

TIMING:  The Annapolis Ten Mile Run will be using ChampionChip timing to allow runners an accurate record of their time. 

·       Runners will receive their chip at packet pickup.

·       If you have your own ChampionChip, please include chip number with online registration.

·       Attach the chip to your shoe. The chip will NOT be read if it is in your pocket, therefore no time will be recorded and you will not be eligible for awards.

·       Please keep in mind that timing errors occur and awards may be given to the incorrect recipient if a chip is worn by someone other than the registrant. Runners run the risk of being disqualified for wearing a chip not assigned to them.

·       Runners are responsible for their chip and a $30.00 fee will be assessed if the chip is not returned on race day or within three weeks after the race.

 

DIRECTIONS:  Rt 50 East or West to Exit 24-Rowe Blvd, right on Farragut by stadium, enter stadium.

 

POST RACE FESTIVAL:  Michelob Ultra, O'Doul's, Watermelon, Bananas, Gatorade, Music, Sports Massage (compliments of the race), National Running Center Clothing Sales.

 

CONFIRMATION:  Confirmation of entry acceptance, instructions for number pick-up, and detailed information about the Race Eve Expo will be sent immediately upon completion of registration. No telephone confirmations. Bring your confirmation to registration.
