RRCA Club Challenge
A note from Casey Rayburg, Annapolis Striders President, to the team:
I hope you have had a chance to rest and recover from the RRCA Club Challenge. I’ve received the results, and we successfully competed in every single category for the first time in quite a while. Both in the men’s competition and women’s competitions, we took 10th out of 14 teams. As a coed team, we took 9th place out of 12 teams. Our highest placing category was the Male Grand Masters (50+ years old) where we took 4th of 9 teams. Nice work gentlemen!! (KEN ZIMMERMAN, DAVID PHIPPS, DANIEL VASQUEZ CARDONA, JOSEPH BENCIVENGA, CHRISTOPHER MAIRS, ZACH WOOD, ROBERT CAWOOD, MITCH KEILER, ROSS HEISMAN, DANIEL MORRISSEY, VENKATA MADDURI, PETER COOPER, MICHAEL ELKONOH, MARK HAMILTON, and TOM LYDEN). Our highest placing women’s team was the under 40 group which didn’t even have enough runners until the last day of registration. They placed 8th of 11 teams (ALYSSA COOK, KATHARINE AHRENS, NICOLE DAWSON, ERICA SIMPSON, ANNA CAWOOD). Overall, our fastest runners were KEN ZIMMERMAN (1:03:37) and ALYSSA COOK (1:06:23). I’m attaching the results, so you can see how we did in the other categories.
Hopefully everyone had a good time running. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the team competition, please let me know. I look forward to seeing everyone come back for the race next year. The new gym should be finished by that point, which means no more tent!
Thank you to our volunteers, photographers, and supporters! The links to the results and race website as well as additional photos are below.
