This historic event takes place along the scenic coastline of Delaware, our First State, to support our wounded warriors and homeless veterans. The race will encompass four picturesque beaches. Beginning at the historic Parade Field, Cape Henlopen State Park. Participants will travel through the state park and race down the beach line, simulating marching on the desert sands of the Middle East. The event is divided into a 5k and Half Marathon Challenge.

Thundering Hooves 5k

Come experience a race like no other! Runners will wind their way throughout our 340 acre farm with over 150+ draft horses shaking the ground beneath them as they gallop alongside you!
Our course features beautiful wooded forest trails that meander onto wide grass and gravel pathways and lead you to incredible views of the entire farm. Race for time or stop and grab a selfie with Phantom, Chester, Blue Bonnet, Yoda, and so many more!
The excitement doesn’t end when you cross the finish line! Make sure you stick around to grab some grub at one of the food trucks on site and enjoy watching our Equitainment demonstrations!

Down the Stretch Track Fest

Light Horse Track Club is hosting a track meet at George Mason University on Friday,
May 17. The meet will include USATF officials, official timing done by George Mason Athletics, and a partner sponsorship by Aslin Beer Company. Both the Open and Select races are Mile, 5k, and 10k. Heats are seeded based upon qualifying times.

Puppy raisers and volunteers for Hero Dogs, Inc. are excited to present the 4th Annual Hero Dogs 5K9, our 2nd year with an IN-PERSON option this year hosted at Congressional Cemetery in Washington DC. We learned a lot from last year’s event and are excited to be back and better than ever!
Our 5K course is flat, fast, and USATF certified. Start and finish are within the cemetery, and the course goes out on the adjoining Anacostia Trail for a quick out and back. Water is available at the start/finish line and at a water stop around the halfway point of the 5k course.

Join us Saturday, May 18th for a family-oriented event to encourage fitness while funding our work providing supportive housing and services to DC residents living with mental health disorders.
The morning will begin with a half-mile (approx.) Kids Fun Run from Picnic Grove 24 to Morrow Drive and back. All participants in the Fun Run will be presented with a medal after crossing the finish line.
Our 5K Run, Walk, and Roll will follow an out-and-back route through paved roads beginning near Picnic Grove 24. This USATF-certified course runs entirely on paved park roads (closed to traffic) to accommodate participants of all abilities.

The Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation invite race enthusiasts from the DMV and beyond to participate in the Annual Miles for Maya Virtual 5K on May 18 and 19, 2024. This two-day fitness extravaganza can be completed your way—on your time; your chosen trail, path, or track; and at your speed—walking, running, jogging, hiking, or biking. The bonus is that your participation not only contributes to your fitness efforts, but also helps support some of DC’s most vulnerable students and families who are part of the Maya Community. Join this online community of students, staff, and families, and even challenge other schools to get moving with a mission!
