On most of these services we have no control over how many users are actually shown our posts, but your engagement can help boost the overall audience for these posts.
Please keep in mind that these social media accounts are supplemental means of club communication & promotion, and are not the primary way we communicate with club members. As always, our primary means of communication are the club web site at AnnapolisStriders.org and this here E-Streak e-mail newsletter! Our social media accounts are just meant to help spread the word farther & wider about our awesome club and its activities. No endorsement of any of these social media services is implied. The Annapolis Striders’ 5K Training groups are a great service to the community, a good recruiting tool, and a nice way to connect with new runners. Currently, we offer programs in the fall and spring, 3 days a week, to help new or returning runners get in shape for Striders’ races. We are eager to build our coaching group for the long term and are in search of people who would be willing to coach
1-3 days a week during our training series. To be a coach, you must get certified by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) through one of their online or in-person 2-day workshops. If you successfully complete the training and coach for us, the Annapolis Striders will reimburse you for the training. For more information, please contact Laura Amin at laura.amin66@gmail.com.

Annual Awards
Your Awards Committee and Board have just wrapped up the 2024 Annual Awards, and the results will be announced at our Annual Meeting. Now it’s time to start thinking about our 2025 awards!
As we go through the year, see if anyone you know meets the general requirements and specific criteria for any of our awards. If so, gather all supporting information so you can easily nominate them at the end of the year. We even accept self nominations for consideration!
For more information on the award categories, general nomination requirements, and specific awards criteria, check out the Annual Awards on the Striders website.

Race day is a mere 45 days away, and yet, volunteer positions remain available for those willing to take part in the production of this year’s race. Please consider volunteering for one of the following positions:
Truck Crew: Thus far, two volunteers – Darrell Mak and Stephen Hoard – have offered to get up early on race day morning to deliver supplies to the six aid stations on the racecourse and then pick those supplies up once the races are over. This is a four-person job, so I need at least two more Striders to seize this opportunity.
Course Monitor at Boulters Way: One volunteer has agreed to direct runners as they leave the south end of the trail and head down Boulters Way. We need one additional volunteer at the turn round at the bottom of the hill to direct runners to head back uphill to the trail. It would be a bonus if we had a third person positioned by the entrance ramp from Boulters on to westbound Rt. 50 to ensure runner safety.
Course Monitor at East West Blvd.: One volunteer has agreed to direct marathoners as they cross over East West Blvd to head down the path that parallels East West Blvd. before returning to the trail and on to the finish line. We need one additional volunteer at the turn around to direct marathoners back to the trail.
If you are interested in any one of these opportunities, please email toml@annapolisstriders.org.

B&A Trail Half Marathon Training: Training began the week of 12/30, with 1st group/long run on 1/4/25. 73 runners are now registered; we usually have about 30 folks actually attend. If you are interested in joining us, check HERE.A full training plan is available for those interested and I will send that out starting this week to all who have signed up. The plan is particularly focused on those who have not run a ½ marathon but an enhanced version will also be available for those who have completed a ½ but may want to step up their game a bit.
Something to think about: We talk a lot about many training-related subjects that may be more applicable to our more experienced runners but there are other ways to train for those who are new to the game. Here’s an article that may be of interest to a wider swath of our members:
